Start 'Em, Sit 'Em — NFL Week 1
Week 1 means real games and the first real usage sample of the season — but it also means the thinnest data week of the year. Sleeper hasn't published Week-1 projected points yet, so this page — exactly like the live DraftScout start/sit advisor — ranks the straight real weekly rankings instead, and says so plainly rather than pretending projections exist. No projected points appear anywhere below. When projections land, we'll refresh this page in place.
Rankings and calls below come from the live DraftScout start/sit advisor, which for Week 1 uses Sleeper's real weekly rankings (read live from the tool on September 10, 2026). Every player here carries his real 2026 team and bye.
Week 1 start 'em, sit 'em at a glance
| Player | Pos | Call | Confidence | Honest one-line reason | |--------|-----|------|-----------|------------------------| | Bijan Robinson (ATL) | RB | START | High | Sleeper's #1-ranked player overall for Week 1 — the top of the real weekly board. | | Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) | RB | START | High | #2 overall on the Week-1 board; a locked-in starter. | | Josh Allen (BUF) | QB | START | High | The #1-ranked QB of the week (#3 overall). | | Ja'Marr Chase (CIN) | WR | START | Medium | #4 overall, sharing the top WR tier with Puka Nacua. | | Chris Olave (NO) | WR | SIT | Medium | #30 overall with ten wide receivers ranked ahead — a flex-lean at best. | | Breece Hall (NYJ) | RB | SIT | Medium | #27 overall, the 13th-ranked RB — the board has twelve backs ahead of him. |
The top start this week
- Player: Bijan Robinson (RB, ATL)
- Call: START — High
- Honest reason: Sleeper's weekly rankings put Robinson first overall on the entire Week-1 board — no player, at any position, ranks higher. Atlanta's bye is Week 11, so there's no Week-1 availability concern.
- Risk / note: this is a ranking call, not a projection — Sleeper hasn't published Week-1 projected points yet, so "top start" means top of the real weekly board, not a predicted point total. Treat the rank as the signal, and re-check the tool Sunday morning for any movement.
The sit of the week
- Player: Breece Hall (RB, NYJ)
- Call: SIT — Medium
- Honest reason: Hall ranks #27 overall and 13th among running backs — the weekly board has twelve RBs ahead of him, and in Week 1 the ranking is the only real signal we have.
- Who gets the start instead: any RB on your roster the board ranks higher — e.g., James Cook (BUF, #5) or De'Von Achane (MIA, #8).
Position-by-position
Quarterbacks
- Start: Josh Allen (BUF) — the #1-ranked QB for Week 1 (#3 overall); Buffalo's bye is Week 7, so he's available all Week 1.
- Start: Drake Maye (NE) — the #2-ranked QB on the board (#10 overall) for Week 1.
- Sit: Dak Prescott (DAL) — ranked 9th among QBs (#38 overall); if you roster a top-8 QB, the board's own order benches Prescott this week.
Running backs
- Start: Jahmyr Gibbs (DET) — #2 overall — the board's second name, no second thoughts.
- Start: De'Von Achane (MIA) — #8 overall and 7th among RBs — the top of the RB2 tier.
- Sit: Breece Hall (NYJ) — #27 overall — 13th-ranked RB behind a dozen better-ranked options.
Wide receivers
- Start: Ja'Marr Chase (CIN) — #4 overall, co-top WR on the Week-1 board with Puka Nacua.
- Sit: Chris Olave (NO) — #30 overall with ten wide receivers ranked ahead — a sit in shallow lineups, a risky flex in deep ones.
Tight ends
- Start: Trey McBride (ARI) — the #1-ranked TE for Week 1 (#22 overall).
- Sit: Travis Kelce (KC) — #90 overall, 13th-ranked TE — twelve tight ends rank ahead of him this week.
Bye weeks and injuries to set your lineups around
No teams are on bye in Week 1. NFL byes run Weeks 5–14 this season, so every team plays this week. You can see each player's real bye on every card in the live start/sit advisor (for example: Robinson's Atlanta bye is Week 11, Gibbs' Detroit bye is Week 6, Allen's Buffalo bye is Week 7). No injury statuses were confirmed in the live data we pulled today, so we're not listing any — when a real status lands, it gets reflected here and in the tool.
